1. What This Policy Covers
This Cookie Policy explains how DevCerts uses cookies and similar technologies on https://devcerts.org/ to keep the Service working, maintain secure sessions, protect public forms, and support payment-related flows.
2. Types of Technologies DevCerts Uses
DevCerts currently relies on the following categories of cookies or similar technologies:
- Essential session cookies — used to keep you signed in, preserve page state, protect requests, and support core navigation.
- Security and abuse-prevention technologies — used to protect public entry points, authentication flows, and high-risk actions from bots or fraudulent behavior.
- Consent-memory storage — used to remember the privacy choice you make in the DevCerts public-site banner so the site does not repeatedly ask for the same decision on every page.
- Checkout-support technologies — used when payment-provider pages or embedded checkout components need cookies or similar identifiers to complete transactions securely.
- Preference storage (optional) — if you allow it in DevCerts privacy settings, DevCerts may remember your light or dark theme choice in this browser.
DevCerts does not currently describe analytics, advertising, or cross-site social-media tracking cookies on the Service in this Policy. If those technologies are introduced later, this Policy and any required consent mechanism will be updated.
3. Privacy Settings Component
DevCerts may display a privacy-settings component across public website shells until you make a choice. That component allows you to keep only necessary technologies, review the current setup, or enable optional preference storage for browser theme persistence. In the current MVP, preference storage is the only optional setting presented there.
4. Third-Party Technologies That May Set or Read Cookies
Depending on the feature you use, DevCerts may rely on the following third-party services:
- Google reCAPTCHA — used to help protect sign-in, registration, and other authentication-related endpoints from abuse. Google may place or read cookies and collect device and interaction data. See the Google Privacy Policy and Google Terms of Service.
- Paddle or Stripe checkout technologies — used to support payment flows, depending on the active runtime configuration, when you begin a checkout process.
5. Why These Technologies Are Used
DevCerts uses these technologies to:
- maintain secure authenticated sessions;
- protect request integrity and reduce abuse;
- support checkout, payment confirmation, and voucher-credit flows;
- remember state required for a page or form to complete correctly.
6. Managing Cookies
Most browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies. If you disable cookies or similar technologies, some parts of the Service may stop working correctly, including sign-in, account persistence, abuse-prevention checks, or payment-related flows.
7. Changes to This Policy
DevCerts may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, law, or Service behavior. Any update will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date.
